What Is the Canada Super Visa?

Canada remains one of the most family-friendly destinations in the world, offering several pathways for family reunification and extended family visits.

The Canada Super Visa is a Temporary Resident Visa that allows eligible parents and grandparents to visit their family in Canada for up to five years per entry, without requiring annual renewal of their visitor status.

🔹 Eligibility Requirements (2025):

To qualify for the Super Visa, applicants must meet these requirements set by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC):

1. Relationship Proof: Must be the parent or grandparent of a Canadian citizen or permanent resident.
2. Invitation Letter: A formal invitation from the host child or grandchild in Canada, confirming financial support and family ties.
3. Proof of Income: The host must meet the Minimum Necessary Income (MNI) requirement (Bank statement, recent pay slip, employment letter, etc.) to prove they can financially support the visitor, without government assistance. Updated income tables are published annually by IRCC.
4. Medical Insurance: Applicants must obtain private medical insurance from a Canadian company that covers at least healthcare, hospitalization, and repatriation for a period of 1 year. This insurance must be fully paid before the arrival of the guest.
5. Immigration Medical Exam: A mandatory medical check must be conducted to ensure the applicant’s health condition is acceptable.
